You will be able to see what vendor is NABP/VAWD-certified before you place an order. If a vendor is certified, the NABP sign will show up next to their name in the marketplace.

What is NABP/VAWD accreditation?

This is a program created by the NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy). The program certifies that the NABP has fully reviewed the wholesaler's business process, that they are fully compliant in their business practices, and that they meet the pharmaceutical industry's operating standards.

(It's like a gold standard of certifications for a pharmaceutical wholesaler)

The NABP/VAWD accreditation process review process includes but not limited to:

Screening through the NABP Clearinghouse.
Survey of the facility's operations.
Licensure verification
In-depth review of the company's operating procedures.

Why is it so important?

With an NABP/VAWD-certified vendor, you can have complete confidence that the product you’re getting is sourced from the industry's most reliable suppliers. You won’t have to worry about the product being adulterated or running into any issues along the supply channel.

In addition, certain PBMs, such as Optum RX, ask pharmacies to purchase products from NABP/VAWD-certified vendors only.
